Morning Program: Joe Veneto, The Opportunity Guy
The Dirty Little Secret of the Speaking Business:
Sales & Marketing
For non celebrity speakers, the ability to launch, grow and sustain a successful speaking business is directly proportional to their sales and marketing activities.
Joe Veneto aka The Opportunity Guy will share his insights, learnings and experiences since beginning his business in 1996. As a niche speaker who works primarily in the Tourism and Hospitality Industries, he is constantly uncovering new opportunities with new and existing clients to grow his business.
He first acquired his sales skills at Catholic School pushing products for the Nuns. He also worked in commission sales selling travel to groups in the 80’s. Both these experiences have taught him that sales people are not born; sales skills are acquired and developed.
You will learn:
- How to develop a sales and marketing mindset to grow your business.
- The importance of working “ON” your business at all times.
- Uncovering sales opportunities at every stage of the sales process.
- Getting to Economic Buyers.
- Positioning yourself and your topics to get results.
- Why sell a speech when clients want results!
- Creating a business mix for sustainable results.
- Why creating products must be part of your business mix!
Late morning Joe will work with a number of audience members to assist them with their sales challenges and marketplace positioning.
If you have ever been challenged with the sales and marketing aspects of the speaking business this program is for you. They don’t call him The Opportunity Guy for nothing!
Afternoon Program: Susan Keane-Baker
Own The Topic, Own The Room
A step-by-step guide to developing outstanding content
Are you content with your content? Make your keynote even fresher and more interesting. Create a new talk for clients who want you back. Learn how to do all this and receive a 30-page workbook filled with practical techniques to implement.
The best marketing is a great speech. Here’s how you get one:
Attend our April 8th meeting to learn:
· Unusual sources of speech content
· How to have information on your topic flowing to you daily, at no cost
· A strategy that will give you an hour’s worth of flexibility in your talk. Meeting planner asks you to cut your talk by 30 minutes? No problem! The other speaker’s plane is delayed and the meeting planner asks you to lengthen your talk by 60 minutes? No problem!
· Easy content enhancements that impress meeting planners and your listeners.
· 30 strategies that you can start using immediately
You’ll want to attend if
· Your clients often ask you back for another speech (or you wish they would!)
· Other speakers are using your material, so you need new content, fast!
· Your market shifts and your topic isn’t as hot as it once was.
· You shift and you’re just not as excited about your topic as you could be.
· You want to be perceived as an expert.
The bottom line is: You have to own the room. And while you’ll never know more about your topic than every single person who hears you speak, you can have the freshest, most interesting and most poignant speech they’ve ever heard.
Our speaker is Susan Keane Baker MHA CSP of New Canaan CT. Susan has been speaking professionally for twelve years and has been a member of NSA New England since 1994. She is the immediate past-President of NSA-Connecticut. Susan presented “Own the Topic, Own the Room” at the 2005 NSA Convention in Phoenix to a standing room only crowd. Dozens of people who wanted to get into the room were turned away, and because of a taping malfunction, the session was not recorded. We expect this to be a practical session of easy to implement techniques that will take your content to new heights. Don’t miss it!
