Amy has spent the past fifteen years in event production and the past five in celebrity speaker representation -- so she knows both sides of the equation: What planners with big budgets are looking for AND how to get top dollar for her speakers' appearances.
In this instructional session, Amy will share her hands-on advice, checklists and templates to answer the following questions:
- Is representation the 'nirvana' it's often made out to be? Do you need representation?
- How do you find representation? What should you, as the customer, be looking for?
- What representation options do you, as a speaker, have?
- How much does professional representation cost? Are there different pricing structures out there?
- What can you expect from a speaker's agent?
- How do you get speaker bureaus interested in working with you? What can you do to make yourself more appealing to bureaus?
- What are some of the pitfalls to avoid with your pricing and agreements? What negotiation scenarios should you be prepared to address?
- How can you maximize the revenue you earn on each appearance, and make the most out of every single inquiry?

Larry King-style breakout session with audience questions
In this session, you will have the chance to have your specific questions answered -- and no topic is 'off-limits.'
Bring your frustrations, experiences and puzzling situations-- and get ready for some straight-shooting from someone who has pretty much seen it all. Amy can address the issues faced by the most seasoned speakers with professional representation ---to the challenges faced by those just testing the waters of professional speaking. Feel free to submit your questions in advance, so Amy can tailor this session to meet YOUR needs and maximize the return on the investment of your time and money.
Session #2: Creating Your Own Holiday: A Powerful Tool for Business Success

Helen Osborne was chosen as media spokesperson for a major pharmaceutical company because of her holiday, “Health Literacy Month.” The National Basketball Association is talking with Rich DiGirolamo about ways to leverage his holiday, “Recess at Work Day.” And Marilee Driscoll uses her holiday as a product by selling sponsorships to “Long Term Care Planning Month.” These holidays are all listed in Chase’s Calendar of Events (Contemporary Books, Chicago, IL).
Helen, Rich, and Marilee obviously take three very different approaches. What they have in common is using holidays to build their business and achieve success. In this session, you not only will learn about creating holidays but also discuss ways the right holiday can help accomplish your goals.
